If you break into modelling, you’ll gain industry connections which might allow you to launch a career in other entertainment fields, such as acting. Here, LUXE Models reveals five women who transitioned from fashion modelling to acting.
South African-born Charlize Theron won a one-year modelling contract when she was 16. She moved to Milan, Italy with her mother and spent the next 12 months modelling throughout Europe. These days Theron is far more known for her acting work, having starred in a number of iconic flicks including The Cider House Rules, The Italian Job and Monster, which earned her an Oscar.
Easily one of the most recognisable faces in Hollywood, Cameron Diaz is a true A-lister. During her time she’s appeared in a number of huge blockbusters like Gambit and Something About Mary. However in her early days, Diaz worked as a fashion model in Europe. After signing with Elite Model Management at just 16, she worked on campaigns for Calvin Klein and Levi before going into acting.
The industry’s current ‘it’ girl, Cara Delevingne has fronted campaigns for fashion brands such as Chanel, Tom Ford and Zara and has been a muse for iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld. Delevingne was one of the highest earning fashion models of 2015 but this wasn’t just because of her modelling work. Over the past year she has embarked on an acting career, starring in Paper Towns and Anna Karenina.
Brooke Shields began her modelling career at just 11 months old. She’s since become an iconic model, most famous for being the youngest person ever to appear on the front cover of Vogue and modelling Calvin Klein jeans in notoriously controversial TV and print ads. But Brooke’s also become a famous actress over the years, appearing in productions such as The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love in the 80s.
The ultimate A-Lister, Angelina Jolie is one of the most famous actresses in the world. She’s starred in a number of memorable productions including Salt and Girl Interrupted, for which she won an Oscar. But Jolie actually started out as a model when at the tender age of 16, she was signed by Finesse Model Management.
