James Corden: king of the UK

Since then James has stared in countless films and sell-out plays, presented panel and awards shows, appeared in hit songs, written a book and has even received an OBE. James Corden is now a house hold name.

Off to break America

But, making his biggest leap yet, James has recently set his sights on the US, and is putting his career on the line to host the infamous Late Late Show on CBS.

Previously hosted by Scottish-American comedian Craig Ferguson, The Late Late Show is one of America’s most beloved TV chat shows. Unlike our Friday and Saturday night chat shows with Graham Norton and Johnathon Ross, our US cousins have become accustom to a constant stream of comedic late night talk shows.

Jay Leno, Jimmy Fallon, David Letterman, Conan, Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart; America’s list of talk show hosts is ongoing. Every night, someone, somewhere is talking to a celebrity on a talk show. That’s just the way it is. So, should be a walk in the park, right James? Well, yes!

Opening night

It turns out our James did an amazing job on his first night – which featured guests Mila Kunis and Tom Hanks – and is a big hit with viewers and critics.

Making his debut on The Late Late Show on the 23rd of March on CBS, James let his Englishness shine through with a heartfelt introduction whilst also embracing the glitz and glamour of his new role.

James’ opening skit featured a number of celebrities helping him prepare for the big day. Simon Cowell, Allison Janney, Eddie Redmayne, Shia LaBoeuf and Meryl Streep were among those in the pre-recorded video.

But, the highlight of the first episode was James’ acting marathon with Tom Hanks, in which the duo recreated a number of Tom’s standout films.
