Wellington boots have been around since the 19th century. They take their name from Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, who wore and popularised them as a trend. In more recent years they have become a footwear staple for festival-goers thanks to their waterproof, wipe-clean coating. But this week, Luxe Models were pleased to see that the good old welly boot has been given a high fashion makeover!
Stella McCartney’s husband, Alasdhair Willis showcased his debut collection as creative director for Hunter at the Ambika P3 Gallery at the University of Westminster. And it certainly didn’t disappoint! The collection has been tipped as the next big thing and to drive the point home the front row of the show was occupied by Stella McCartney and Anna Wintour.
Models, including Suki Waterhouse walked on water down the catwalk, highlighting these boots as bot practical and sexy. There was a huge range of styles and colours; heeled, cropped, red, leather – Hunter has it all this season! Alasdhair is obviously living up to the promises he made when he was appointed. He said that we could look forward to footwear expansion from Hunter and exciting new ranges in the outerwear category. The show delivered these promises in the form of duffle coats, neon fleeces and cable-knit cardigans.
Luxe Models were excited to see Dymano, Magician Impossible, turning a card (pardon the pun!) at the end of the show. The audience were treated to a levitation act as hundreds of playing cards fell from the ceiling.
Alasdhair seems extremely pleased and well-suited to his new role. He has said what an honour it is to work from Hunter and to be involved at such a crucial time for the brand. There is huge potential for Hunter to expand and grow in the industry at the moment and to build on the 160 years of fashion history that brought it to where it is today.
