The 2013 Emmy Awards got going in style on Sunday night with some of the biggest names in television showing up on the red carpet sporting a dazzling array of designer threads. Here at Luxe Models, we’ve got a quick run down of the best (and worst!) dressed stars.

Claire Danes took home the award for Best Actress for her outstanding role in Homeland, but it wasn’t just her acting that wowed the crowds. She looked stunning in a couture Armani Prive gown that perfectly complemented her dazzling golden trophy. The trend for pastel gowns was strong this year, with January Jones also looking fantastic in a dusky pink strapless gown. Her blonde hair was slicked into a beautiful vintage wave, befitting of her Mad Men character Betty Draper.

Elsewhere, the other ladies of Man Men weren’t to be upstaged. Christina Hendricks showed of her gorgeous curves in a hugging black gown, while Elizabeth Moss triumphed in a monochrome dress with a flowing, textured skirt, putting her right on trend. Zooey Deschanel took a bit of a fashion risk with a sky blue number from J Mendel. A thigh length split and a huge bow on the hip were a bit of a gamble, but Zooey pulled them off flawlessly.

There were a few fashion faux pas along the way too though, with Lena Dunham getting it really wrong in an unflattering and ill-fitting floral gown from Prada that clashed desperately with her infamous tattoos. Her Girls co-star Zosia Mamet also fell down on the fashion front in an oddly-coloured gown with an inexplicable leather feature across the bust. And supermodel Heidi Klum chose a impossibly unflattering maroon gown that left her looking more frump than trump.

Also causing a stir on the red carpet was Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn, who scooped the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, and while her classic Romona Keveza dress was truly delightful, people seemed more concerned with her startlingly slight frame. Twitter was a storm with fans commenting on how much weight the actress seems to have lost since last year. Also under a close weight-loss-watch were Cat Deeley and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke. Julie Bowen of Modern Family admitted to starving herself to fit into her Zac Posen dress. And while she was rocking it, we can’t really say we condone that kind of message!
