Saint Laurent is opening its largest flagship store to date this weekend, and, boy, is it a big one. Hedi Slimane’s first worldwide flagship, the store covers 1000 sqm. Here at Luxe Models we love Saint Laurent; as a brand, it is simply divine. This flagship store is located on the luxurious Avenue Montaigne in Paris, and is the main hub of for the ‘new look’ Saint Laurent, not only in contents but in architecture and interior design. Saint Laurent was founded by Yves Saint Laurent, who died in 2008, prompting its re-naming in 2012. Yves Saint Laurent was responsible for the design of the tuxedo for women, and is one of the largest names in fashion history.
The opening of the Paris flagship store follows the Saint Laurent flagship that was opened last week in Berlin. This flagship store brings the total number of standalone street level Saint Laurent stores in Paris to four. Parisians, we here at Luxe Models envy you to no end… how very spoilt! All though we are lucky enough to have a couple of Saint Laurent stores here in London, too, so we can’t complain much. The opening of this store couldn’t come at a better time for fashion, with the female tuxedo taking the reins in this year’s fashion shows. Bravo, Yves, for bringing this classic piece of chic into our lives.
So, what exactly does this store have in, erm, store for us? Several different salons for accessories and eveningwear, apparently, not to mention a special VIP area. This VIP area (for which we await invite in great anticipation) is covered in black leather with matching concrete floors and a nickel-plated brass staircase – we sense this is not just any old VIP section shoved in the corner of a shop to be used by the local star of TOWIE.
Saint Laurent (Kering Group) is now operating 99 mono-brand stores worldwide. As well as this high-profile Paris opening, we can expect to see stores opening in Greene Street in New York, Sloane Street in London, Rodeo Drive di Beverly Hills (pop-up) and in Hong Kong at Alexandra House. Wow!
Saint Laurent is set to take autumn 2013 by the horns, with a dark, grungy image inspired by Courtney Love. Courtney Love is Hedi Sleim’s latest muse, and, despite being an unlikely inspiration for Saint Laurent, has evoked very interesting displays on recent catwalks. Fishnet tights, undainty footwear and thigh-high leather boots are some of the things we can expect this fall from Saint Laurent, and we can’t wait!
It seems that Saint Laurent is set to continue making history and setting trends for as long as we all shall live… and beyond!
