Victoria’s Secret is America’s largest retailer of lingerie. Founded in 1977 by Roy Raymond and his wife, Gaye, it is a subsidiary of Limited Brands.

Out of all of the fashion shows, it is the Victoria’s Secret catwalk stars that are most talked about.  To gain Angel status is much coveted.  The girls who have earned their wings shoot quickly to near celebrity status.

So here at Luxe Models London we wanted to know just what does it take to get the body of an Angel? Is it down to just good genes?

Luxe Models did some investigation into the diet and work out routines of some of the Angels. Current Angels include Lily Aldridge, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Lindsay Ellingson, Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel, Doutzen Kroes and Erin Heatherton.

Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr stays fit with daily yoga, resistance exercises, and high-impact workouts such as running or boxing. “I make sure I do half an hour of yoga in the morning so that then I’m feeling good,” she has said, according to the Daily Mail in the UK. “I have been working out quite a bit doing Pilates and yoga and strength training with weights and resistance bands and I eat super healthy.  I live by the philosophy that beauty starts from within and I make a conscious effort to fill my body with nutrients through the food I eat,” Kerr informed Harper’s Bazaar in September. Miranda is well known for maintaining a strict diet of fish, fresh food and steamed vegetables.

Miranda is married to Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom and together they have a child. “Becoming a mother has made me even more aware and more passionate about nutrition and wellness, so much so that I am now a certified health coach practitioner.”

“I love food and enjoy eating fresh organic produce,” Kerr told Harper’s Bazaar. “I drink warm water and lemon every morning and I also drink lots of good quality purified and preferably alkaline water throughout the day.”

Luxe Models Management adores Alessandra Ambrosio. This Brazilian supermodel is the mother of two children. Incredibly, two months after giving birth to son Noah, she donned her wings on the Victoria’s Secret catwalk.

Her trainer, Leandro Carvalho, came up with the idea of the “Brazil Butt Lift”. She uses elastic bands, capoeira, ankle weights, an exercise called “on the beach” to achieve thin thighs and a firm rear.

Regarding diet, Alessandro is a foodie and doesn’t like to rule out food groups from her diet. Breakfast usually includes eggs, Alessandros favourite.  Lunch could often consist of non-vegetarian and salad. To keep her metabolism going she snacks throughout the day on nuts and drinks coffee. She also adores Japanese food.

Candice Swanepoel is from South Africa and in 2012 she came 10th on the Forbes list of top earning models. Candice works with the Victoria Secrets models favourite trainer -Justin Gelband. He says there are 5  key exercises on which she works – balance, lower back, hip, butt, and stability. To develop these areas, she does kickboxing, jump ropes and lifts lights weights also to build muscle.

Candice says, “I love walking up on the runway. I box, I do a lot of resistance, three times a week.” Regarding diet, she manages to eat healthily generally, though when travelling it is more of a struggle. By eating healthily most of the time she is able to allow herself her favourites, pizza and pasta, on occasion.

Candice Swanepoel also showed followers on Twitter the results of her intensive training regime, posting an image of her bruised and battered hands with the phrase: ‘Boxing knuckles #notsosexy#VSfashionshow’

So if you want to look like a Victoria’s Secret Angel lay off the junk food and get down to the gym! As first time Angel, Hilary Rhoda tweeted, “#VSFashionShow training… You get out what you put in!”
